Playground Games is looking for a Tools QA Technician to join our Fable team on a contract basis.

About us:

As a first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and, most of all, fun. We are excited to be rebooting the much-loved Fable franchise and are expanding our diverse team to create a new classic in the action RPG genre.

About the role:

You will be responsible for testing and helping to develop and maintain the fidelity, stability and quality of the tools used by our content creators.
Your experience in QA will allow you to follow, adapt and create test plans to ensure that tools are regularly checked. You will be responsible for raising any bugs found and working with developers to help prioritise them based on their severity and impact.
As part of the team, you will be working closely with content creators and tools engineers to ensure that developers have the means to create a genre leading AAA title.

This is a 12 month contract position and whilst this role involves working closely with our team, the position will be employed through our trusted agency partner.

We have a hybrid work model in place with a minimum of 3 days a week in studio in Leamington Spa.

What you’ll do:

  • Create, run and maintain reoccurring tests
  • Identify regressions and new issues
  • Collaborate with the tools engineers and content creators to assure the quality and stability of our tools
  • Take ownership of new Tools releases from initial discussion through to test plan creation and eventual stake holder review and sign-off

What you’ll bring:

  • An eye for detail
  • A willingness to learn new skills and systems
  • The desire to streamline and improve testing and tools workflows
  • Working knowledge of bug databases (i.e. Jira, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience writing documentation and release notes
  • Experience working with users to understand their problems/requirements and communicating those to developers
  • A passion for games

We believe a healthy work-life balance, continuous learning, and a supportive community are key to creating world-class games.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a world-class game with an established, talented, and collaborative team at one of the industry’s most exciting first-party game studios.
